This policy explains what data the SnapDoc Android app
(com.progedify.docscanner) collects, why, and what choices you have. It is written to
describe what the app actually does — not a generic template.
In short: SnapDoc asks for no account, no name and no email, and it operates no server. Every page you scan, every PDF it builds and every line of text it reads stays on your device. Scanning, cropping, enhancement and text recognition all run on the phone itself — your documents are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. The ad-supported version shows ads, and our advertising partner (Google AdMob) collects some device data to serve them. A separate ad-free build has no internet permission at all.
This app is published by Progedify. For any privacy question or request, contact cse.sadhan@gmail.com.
People scan passports, ID cards, bank statements, payslips, medical letters, contracts, invoices and receipts. Those images are sensitive by any definition, and this section is the reason the app is built the way it is.
None of them leaves your device. There is no account, no sign-in, no cloud sync, no server and no analytics on document content. Each scan, each enhanced page, each generated PDF and each block of recognised text is written to the app's own private storage on the phone, where no other app can read it. We cannot see these documents, we cannot produce them in response to a request from anyone, and we could not hand them over if we were asked, because we never receive them.
Three consequences you should understand:
SnapDoc uses Google's ML Kit, delivered through Google Play services on your phone, for two things: the camera capture flow with automatic edge detection and perspective correction, and text recognition (OCR).
Both process your image on the device. The page you capture is not uploaded to Google for analysis, and neither is the text extracted from it. Google Play services may download the recognition model files themselves to your phone in order to do this work locally — that is a download of Google's software to you, not an upload of your document to Google.
Image enhancement — the Auto, Document, Grayscale, B&W and Magic Color filters — is performed entirely by the app's own code on your device. PDF files are assembled on the device by Android's own PDF writer. No part of building a document involves a network request.
None that leaves your device. We operate no server and hold no user database.
| Data | Where it is stored | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Scanned page images, and the enhanced versions of them | Locally on your device only, in the app's private storage | They are the documents you came to keep |
| Document names, page order and dates | Locally on your device only | To show and organise your library |
| Recognised text (OCR output) | Locally on your device only | So you can read, search and copy what a scan says |
| Generated PDFs | Locally, until you choose where to save or share one | That is the file you asked the app to make |
| Settings — theme, default scan quality, page size, privacy switches | Locally on your device only | To remember your preferences |
This data is never transmitted to us. Uninstalling the app deletes it, scans included.
The ad-supported version of SnapDoc displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve, measure and prevent fraud in advertising, Google may collect and process:
Your documents are not used to target ads. No scan, no page image, no filename and no line of recognised text is read by the advertising code, shared with Google, or used to decide which ad you see. The ad software has no access to your library, and we send it none. The data above is what the device itself provides to any ad-supported app.
Ads in SnapDoc are full-screen and appear only after a piece of work is finished — a completed scan, a completed text recognition, or a completed export. They are never shown while a document is being processed, never when the app opens, and never on top of a document you are viewing.
This collection is performed by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. See also how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Camera | To photograph the page you are scanning. This is the app's core function. Importing a picture you already have instead needs no permission at all |
| Vibrate | Short haptic feedback when a capture succeeds |
| Internet | Ad-supported build only, and used only by the advertising software. No document, page, filename or recognised text is ever sent over it. The ad-free build does not request internet access at all |
SnapDoc asks for no storage permission of any kind, on any Android version. Importing an existing picture uses the system photo picker, which hands the app only the images you select. Saving a file uses the system file picker, which lets the app write only to the location you choose. The app cannot browse your photos or your files, and it has no ability to read anything you have not handed it.
When you save or share a PDF or an image, you choose the destination through Android's own picker or share sheet. From that moment the file is an ordinary file in the place you sent it — your downloads folder, a cloud drive, an email, a messaging app — governed by that service's terms rather than by this policy. SnapDoc does not upload anything on its own, and it has no sync feature and no connected account.
This app is intended for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used this app and provided information, contact us and we will act on it.
The app contains no analytics SDK. We do not measure how you use it, we do not count your documents, and we receive no crash reports containing your data.
None, because we hold none. We have no server, no database and no account system, so there is no store of user data we could search, disclose, sell or lose. This is a property of how the app is built rather than a promise about how we behave.
Because all of your data stays on your device, you exercise every right directly: view it in the app, rename or delete any document or page, export what you want to keep, and remove all of it by uninstalling. There is nothing held by us to request, correct or erase. If you have a question about any of this, contact us.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a revised date above. Material changes affecting how data is handled will also be noted in the app's release notes.
