Privacy Policy — Crosstell

Last updated: 23 September 2026

This policy explains what data the Crosstell Android app (com.progedify.testimony) collects, why, and what choices you have. It describes what the app actually does, not a generic template.

In short: Crosstell has no account, no sign-in and no server of its own. Which matters you have opened and closed, which lines you tried, which speakers you cleared and your streak are stored only on your phone and are never sent anywhere. The ad-supported version shows ads, and our advertising partner (Google AdMob) collects some device data in order to serve them. A separate ad-free build contains no advertising code at all.

1. Who we are

This app is published by Progedify. For any privacy question or request, contact cse.sadhan@gmail.com.

2. What Crosstell stores, and where

Everything the app knows about you is written to this app's own storage on your device, which no other app can read. Specifically:

None of this is uploaded. We operate no server for this app, so there is nowhere for it to be uploaded to. It is not shown to the advertising code and plays no part in choosing which ad you see. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

3. What we do not collect

4. Advertising (ad-supported version only)

The free version of Crosstell is paid for by advertising supplied by Google AdMob. There are three kinds of advertisement:

No advertisement of any kind appears while you are reading a transcript or reading the result — those screens are on the ad layer's deny list.

To serve those ads, Google receives and processes:

DataWhy
Advertising IDTo select ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure whether an ad was watched
Approximate location (derived from your IP address)To serve ads that are legal and relevant in your country
Device and other identifiers; device type, OS version, languageTo deliver an ad your device can actually display
App activity limited to ad events (an ad was requested, shown, watched to the end)To pay for the ad and to prevent fraud

Google's own policy governs what it does with that data: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

This is the data declared on the Google Play listing for this app under Data safety, and it is collected by our advertising partner rather than by us: we never see it.

5. Consent, and changing your mind

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent form the first time it runs and asks whether personalised advertising may be used. Your answer is stored by Google's User Messaging Platform on your device.

You can change that answer at any time: open Settings → Privacy and ads → Change your ad privacy choices in the app. The control is shown wherever Google tells the app a choice exists to revisit.

If you decline personalised advertising, the app still works in full. Every matter, every answer and every explanation remains free and available.

6. The ad-free build

Crosstell is also built in a noads flavour which contains no advertising SDK at all — not an SDK that stays quiet, but no advertising code in the application. It collects nothing, requests no ad, and has nothing to consent to. Where that build is distributed, this section replaces §4 and §5 entirely.

7. Notifications

If you switch on the daily reminder, the app schedules one local notification on your device at the time you choose. It is generated on the phone; nothing is sent to or from a server, and we do not know whether it was delivered or opened.

8. Children

Crosstell is not directed to children and is intended for readers aged 13 and over. Its matters deal with crime — thefts, frauds, arson, assaults and one fatal road collision, described without graphic detail — and it is rated accordingly on Google Play. It is not a Families programme app and does not request child-directed treatment for advertising.

9. The stories

Every case file in Crosstell is original fiction, written for this app with the help of AI and checked before release. Every person, place, police force and case in it is invented. Nothing in the app is drawn from a real criminal investigation, and any resemblance to one is accidental. If you believe a file is wrong, offensive, or reproduces somebody else's work, please report it from Settings → About Crosstell → Report an interview, or write to the address above, and it will be pulled or corrected.

10. Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete on your behalf. You control the app's data directly: uninstalling removes all of it. For the advertising data described in §4, exercise your rights with Google using the links in that section, or write to us and we will help you find the right route.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects what is collected, note it in the app's release notes on Google Play.
